Practical things, briefly.
Getting there
2 hours by car from Geneva airport (GVA), or take the train to Le Chable and the funicular up to Verbier. A car is useful if you want to drive between resorts; not essential if you ski one mountain.
The food
Breakfast at the chalet. For dinner, Le Mouton Noir for fondue and the regulars' wine list, Le Loup Blanc for game in season, Le Carrefour for an unfussy pizza after the lifts. Le Mont Fort for a high-altitude lunch with a view.
Worth doing
In winter, the obvious. In summer, the Sentier des Chamois walk above the chalet, the via ferrata at Mont Fort if you have a head for heights, the Saturday market in Le Chable. The bears at the wildlife park, briefly.
The detail
Open December to April, then June to September. 6 rooms, a sauna and ski room, a hot tub. Swiss francs only at most restaurants; cards taken at the chalet. French is the main language; the owners speak English and German.
